Kristen Brown's article in the San Francisco Chronicle this morning brought up a very interesting point. We need to be careful not to replace one stereotype with another. If we are trying to dispel the stereotype that a computer science engineer is a 27 year-old white male, we should not try to attract more young women into the tech world by assuming they like pink and frilly things. This is a must read article: Think pink? That's no way to get women into tech jobs.
